A dog is a pet which becomes almost a family member as soon as it arrives at its home. It is lovable and affectionate, and is called man's best friend for a reason.
Caring for one's dog is crucial. First of all, a pet dog must wear a collar to signify that it is not a stray. Bathing one's dog at least once a month and grooming it's coat regularly is important. Its teeth need to be cleaned, its ears need to be cleansed and its nails cut. A dog's paws must be checked every couple of weeks for any signs of injury. Most significant is the dog's nutrition, without which it will tend to have physical and behavioural problems. Also, at the end of the day, dogs respond to affection and love - the best way to take care of a pet.
